Blank screen between images

I have a playlist with 5 images, one image displays twice.  the images are all .png 1920x1080px @ 300dpi.  I'm running the software on a Raspberry Pi 02w. No matter what i do, there is a gap/blank screen between every image during the slideshow.  This makes the display very distracting and, to me, makes it unusable.  

Any help would be appreciated.
