How to register a player at pisignage.com

To manage a player at pisignage.com, and to generate its player license, the player must be registered at pisignage.com. If you purchased licenses after a player was registered and the player does not have a license, register it again to generate the license.

When a player is registered, the license is generated on the server and emailed to the registered email address. The next time the player contacts the server, the license is downloaded to the player automatically.

You can register a player as managed (the default, for players controlled from pisignage.com) or generate a license only (for players managed by your own open-source server).

Register a player in the new interface

1. Note the player ID. A player that is not yet registered shows a Welcome screen on the TV with its player ID, for example 5000-0000-3d88-c52d.
2. Open Screens and click Add Screen. Sign in at pisignage.com, open Screens in the left menu and click Add Screen at the top of the page.
   
3. Fill in the form. Enter a Screen Name, the Screen ID from the TV, the Group the player belongs to and its Timezone. Location, Coordinates, Categories and Notes are optional.
   
4. Click Add Screen at the bottom of the form.
   
5. Check the Screens list. The player appears in the list and shows Online once it contacts the server. The license is emailed to you and downloaded to the player automatically.

License only, for a self-hosted server

If the player is managed by your own open-source server, generate the license without adding the player to pisignage.com:

1. Click Add Screen, then click Self-hosted options next to the Screen ID field.
2. Turn on Need to generate a self-hosted license?
   
3. Enter the Screen ID and click Generate a license.
   

The license file is emailed to the registered email address. Upload it to your local server manually.

Classic interface

In the classic interface, open the Players tab and click Register. Choose managed or license only, then enter the player ID shown on the TV, the group, the timezone and a name for the player. A location is optional. After registration the player appears under the Players tab with its status.
